What wants to live?

A year is a kind of a big deal. So much can happen within and around us in 365 days. Cataclysmic or gently unexpected, change which acts on us in unforseen ways. We need to make decisions; take risks on imagined futures and embark on the labour of bridging our vision into reality - figuring out how to live the life we have chosen, or turn the page.

We make adjustments, correct ourselves if needed - where we can. However heart wrenching or strength testing it can be, our life is made of this movement. Parallel to our surf of the ever-shifting structure of our lives, we see all the ways we stay the same. Repeating ourselves, looping, the same patterns emerge, tirelessly - new context–old pattern - waiting for us to be bored or courageous enough to venture a countermove.
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." Anais Nin

I love this image from Anais Nin, it's such a natural desire we have to flower and fruit, whatever shape that means for us. And I'm glad to remind you and myself that there is no pressure for us to flower just yet - it's the middle of winter. We can tune in to the still, dark, dreaming of the land that holds us, listening for what's in gestation, waiting for the impulse of Spring. We can take our time, look back, reaching into our personal wellspring of experience and seeing what wants to live, in and through us. Picking up and carrying the threads we can, weaving them into our days.

This year I continue to offer Shiatsu at Bullingdon House on a Monday afternoon and evening. I learn so much practicing Shiatsu and being in non-verbal dialogue with your ki, the brilliant intelligence that holds you. If you would benefit from some support with flow and resource - if there's been too much or too little change this winter and your seeking depth/balance/movement - I would love to see you.

My dance class starts on Sunday 1 February 10.30am - 12.00pm at Rose Hill Community Centre. If you want to try something new this year, shake loose and explore the medicine of music, movement and community it would be great to see you there - no experience necessary, just humans doing what we've always done.
