Heart Centred Bodywork | Zen Shiatsu and Holistic Acupressure | Oxford | Kate Abolins
"In both Zen and shiatsu we are dealing with something that cannot be explained rationally but that should be felt by the living body." Shizuto Masunaga
I have been on a healing path for 20 years, which has taken many forms, but the thread running through has been a desire for deeper connection with ourselves, each other, and the natural world. I have found bodywork to be a lifeline on my own journey; physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Working with the body holistically, seeing the body-mind and environment as a whole feels like a natural approach. Shiatsu and Holistic Acupressure offer us connection and restoration on all levels - body, mind, emotion, spirit - through physical touch. Heart centred bodywork means to me the medicine of connection, restoring the bodies natural flow of energy and stimulating our innate capacity to heal and be well. In June 2022 I had a brain haemmorhage/stroke which radically changed my life. Being in long-term recovery from a serious condition has given me lived understanding of the delicate nature of the human condition, and time and space to consider what is vital to me in this life. I qualified in Holistic Acupressure in 2020 and Zen Shiatsu in August 2024. I am also a yoga alliance registered yoga teacher and a teacher-in-training in Movement Medicine.
