"Often the hands will solve a mystery that the intellect has struggled with in vain."  Carl Jung

I am a Zen Shiatsu practitioner, yoga teacher, and Movement Medicine apprentice teacher.  I have been on a healing path for 20 years, which has taken many forms––the thread running through has been desire for a deeper connection with ourselves, each other, and the natural world.

In 2019 I started training in acupressure and shiatsu at the Shiatsu College in London.  Working 'hands on' with the eastern energy system I found a natural way to connect with people, move qi (energy) and ease pain and tension.  I love that this work is deeply physical and connects on a spiritual, mental and emotional level; humans are complex but our needs are often simply for connection and movement on one or more of these levels.  Shiatsu supports this movement towards the connection and ease that is our natural state—increasing our capacity for breath, depth and vitality in life.  I qualified as a Holistic Acupressure therapist in 2020 and as a Shiatsu therapist in 2024.

In June 2022 I had a sudden brain haemorrhage; life as I knew it stopped and I began

the road to recovery and acceptance of changes to my brain and body.  I see recovery

not only as a personal journey, but as part of our shared human experience; so many

of us have to face a reality that is hard to bear.  I resonate with Gabor Maté’s words:

“Recovery is not about living up to some image of perfection, but about returning to

the truth of who we are.”

This Spring I completed a training in Movement Medicine, after a decade of exploring

conscious movement.   I made the decision to train to teach MM as I have found such

a deep resource in this practice and community. My intention is to extend the invitation

to soulful, explorative movement, including for those in recovery. My approach to

teaching is tender, sensitive and celebratory, rooted in the spirit of community and the

creativity that flows through human connection.

I teach bi-monthly open classes at Rose Hill Community Centre and offer 1:1 Zen

Shiatsu in East Oxford and Sandford-on-Thames.  My background is in the Arts and I

have BA(hons) in Photography and an MA in Social Sculpture.

"Highly recommend shiatsu with Kate.  I would give more stars if I could.  The treatment helped me a lot on so many levels. She is super friendly, professional, creates atmosphere where body can fully relax and recover."
